Doulas provide physical, emotional, and informational support for women throughout pregnancy, and can provide the 1:1 continuous nurturing and encouragement during labor that we know leads to better outcomes with less stress and fear. My experience supports the results from many clinical trials, that show that childbirth is a safer and a better experience when obstetricians, nurses, and doulas work together.
— Robert J. Altman, M.D.

Who’s Your Doula?

With over 25 years of combined experience and hundreds of families served, our team of birth and postpartum doulas (and certified lactation specialists) assist expectant and new families with labor support, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, postpartum anxiety and depression, infant care, and more. We work together in a collaborative way to offer the utmost service, support, and evidence-based information to empower women and their families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. We are focused on serving our local area of Modesto and surrounding areas in the Central Valley. We love seeing the positive impact our support can have on families in our own community.

Sheila, Brooke, and Corinne are certified birth doulas, postpartum doulas, and childbirth educators who share clients to ensure we can provide the best reliable and rested care, day or night. We believe a rested doula is a better doula! We contract with the BEST doulas to ensure we can provide that rested support. Each doula is hand selected, vetted, and mentored by MBB. All of us have our own unique personalities, but our training & style of care is the same. We “mother” the mother with nurturing doula care to provide the upmost informational, emotional, & physical support that she needs during the incredibly vulnerable experience of birth.

Modesto Birth & Beyond joined forces with lactation consultant, Isabel Bennett, in 2019 to broaden the services and support we can offer. Corinne is a certified lactation educator & counselor (CLEC) in private practice and she works closely with Izzy. Corinne will be graduating with her IBCLC in June 2024.

Sheila Daniel, PCD/CD(DONA), LCCE

Birth doula + Postpartum Doula + Childbirth educator + Placenta ENCAPSULATION SPECIALIST

Sheila is a DONA certified birth and postpartum doula. She is also a Lamaze® Certified Childbirth Educator. After taking her own Lamaze classes and experiencing the childbearing year herself in 1994, she developed a passion for helping other women feel empowered during their birth and postpartum journeys. Nurturing families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is her calling.

Sheila thoroughly enjoys caring for families during this extremely vulnerable time, and offering support as they welcome a new baby into their home. She considers herself a “Birth Keeper,” an advocate to ensure women and their partners have a safe, empowering, and positive birth experience, as they define it. She always strives to protect their memory of the birth experience. Whenever she is a witness to a birth, Sheila is struck by its sacred nature and the lifelong and transformative effect this experience holds.

After owning a licensed home daycare while her children were growing up, she became a professional nanny and postpartum doula, caring for dozens of families with newborns. In 2014 Sheila began her education & training through DONA International and Lamaze International. She is thrilled to find this calling in this season of her life. Sheila and her husband raised a family of three children, and now they have been blessed with their amazing grandchildren.

First and foremost, Brooke is a Christian, a wife, and a mom to three kiddos that keep her on her toes! She is a DONA certified birth and postpartum doula. She is also a Lamaze® Certified Childbirth Educator. Having had a VBA2C birth (vaginal birth after two cesareans), she has a heart for supporting those who wish to have a VBAC, and it is what led her to become a doula.

Brooke is passionate about helping mothers establish a voice to advocate for themselves during pregnancy and birth. She has a quiet and calming presence during labor and delivery. Having attended her first birth in 2002, she fell in love with birth work.

Since becoming a doula, Brooke has also found a love of helping new moms and families adjust during the postpartum period. She feels it’s a joy to help families thrive during those important first few weeks to months of bringing a new baby into the home.

Corinne Chilton, CD(DONA), CLEC

BIRTH DOULA + POSTPARTUM DOULA + lactation EDUCATOR COUNSELOR+ Placenta ENCAPSULATION SPECIALIST

Corinne is a certified Birth Doula (DONA) and trained Postpartum Doula, a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLEC), and a Certified Placenta Specialist. She will be graduating with her IBCLC (international board-certified lactation consultant) in June 2024. Corinne graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a Degree in Public Health Education. She started her career working in Elderly Care, but soon found her passion in birth and breastfeeding when she had her first daughter in 2018. Corinne had a traumatic birth experience, and many difficulties breastfeeding, and that led to a desire to help other birth/postpartum families and be an advocate for them.

Corinne has known her husband, Sam, since they were 13 years old and he has always been the best support! They have two daughters, Marley, 5, and Norah, 3. Corinne was able to come back from her traumatic birth experience and have a more educated, empowered, and supported birth with her second daughter. Corinne birthed her in her own bedroom after a quick labor and surrounded by the best support team! It was an incredibly healing experience and she is so grateful to be helping others do the same. Corinne is passionate about this work, and she knows that having a Doula or a support person in any aspect of birth is invaluable, and she can’t wait to work with you!

Lactation consultant + Newborn Care Specialist + Postpartum Doula

Izzy is an international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) with extensive training in the area of tongue and lip ties. Always staying current on evidence-based information, Izzy considers herself to be a lifetime student, and is always seeking new educational opportunities. She became a lactation consultant in private practice after having her first child and gaining such a love for breastfeeding.

Her private practice served the central valley for over 10 years before relocating to the Nashville, TN area. We continue to work with Izzy virtually, when needed, because of the extensive experience and knowledge she has. Before moving, Izzy was a partner who shared in providing postpartum doula support to our clients. She enjoys supporting postpartum families in many unique situations. Helping families who are breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and combo feeding, she loves supporting and educating mothers and families during their postpartum journey. Izzy has limited availability for virtual lactation consultations. Many PPO insurance plans cover these consultations. Please see The Lactation Network for more information.
